Loving Tami:
No Regrets

By Randy Rush

“Loving Tami – No Regrets” is a love story that chronicles the difficult journey undertaken by Tami and Randy as they faced Tami’s early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease together. It is an inspirational read that depicts the real life struggle of Alzheimer’s, while at the same time providing insights, resources and encouragement to others who find themselves faced with similar issues. From a romantic setting in Santorini, Greece to a limiting existence in a wheelchair in memory care; from a vibrant woman at the age of 49 to a 90 lb. shell of her former self at the age of 60; from excitement for planning her retirement years to an isolated COVID quarantine; this book also demonstrates the love that two people can have for each other and the ability for that love to persevere even through the most challenging circumstances.

The vulnerability and honesty expressed in Randy's book is heartbreaking, but he demonstrates an unrelenting commitment to his wife that is sliding behind the veil of Alzheimer's. Throughout the book Randy shares his own uncertainties about caring for Tami but wants nothing more than to let her lead the best life she can as her Alzheimer's progresses. This book shows others how you can advocate for your loved one and help them embrace the life they should be able to live after the diagnosis.

“Much has been written about Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias, but not enough is available from the caregiver’s perspective and experience. Loving Tami: No Regrets is at once a practical and richly equipping resource for caregivers and a powerfully honest and moving life story of triumph over tragedy. We are invited to journey with the author and his beloved wife into the unknown landscape of “The Long Goodbye,” and along the way to find faith in vulnerability, courage in the inexorable pain of loss, dignity in the determination to live life on one’s own terms, and purpose in the reality of a life well lived with “No Regrets.” Here is an empowering narrative of the progression of a devastating disease that robs us of humanity yet gifts us with the opportunity to unconditionally love ourselves and others as Christ first loved us. It is, at its heart, a love story.”
